The Holiday Homes fundraiser allows WCM members to contribute to the community in a variety of ways.
In addition to outright donations to a variety of local charity interests, the club organizes its own annual WCM Safety Patrol Awards for McLean elementary schools (Chesterbrook, Churchill, Franklin Sherman, Kent Gardens and Spring Hill), WCM Music Awards to Longfellow and Cooper Middle Schools and WCM scholarships to George Mason University students.
The WCM membership is always looking for new and different ways in which it can contribute in a meaningful way. In the past year, the club provided clothing and basic medical supplies for a "baby rescue" project in a Guatemalan mountain village as a result of a presentation given by a WCM member intimately involved in the project.
This spring, the club raised more than $1,000 for Langley High School's "Relay for Life" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society as a result of a member bringing awareness of this program to WCM.
Another important and happy feature of the club is its excellent chorale, open to all who enjoy music and like to sing. Two chorale concerts are performed annually and other concerts are sometimes scheduled for the benefit of other local organizations.
In addition, WCM members come together for social time at luncheons and general business meetings that usually include a guest speaker or special presentation.
Whatever your interests or talents, whatever your age or background, you can be assured the Woman's Club of McLean will welcome you warmly and enthusiastically.
